Giving the New Administration a Chance

We are about to head to Back to School Night, even though we are already in the second full week of school.

One thing I wanted to clarify with the new administration was the bathroom policy. With a new principal coming in, I didn’t want to assume the expectations were going to be the same as they were with the previous administration. You know what they say about assuming.

I had a phone call with the new principal, and honestly, I felt like it was a very productive conversation. I was able to ask my questions, explain why I had concerns, and get some clarification.

Because of that conversation, I’m going to let this one go for now.

That said, I have not forgotten how things were handled by the previous administration. I’m not going to pretend those things didn’t happen or that they didn’t affect how I approach things now.

I’m willing to give the new administration a chance. I’m willing to have the conversations and see how things go.

But I’m also going to continue paying attention.

Advocating for your kids doesn’t always mean fighting every battle. Sometimes it means asking questions, having a conversation, getting answers, and knowing when to let something go.

For now, this one is going in the “let it go” column.
